This JDM Car Has The Smallest V6 Ever!

What Are We Looking At Here
You might think you know cars and engines, but then along came this Lancer with a little secret under its hood...
Back in the early nineties and just when you thought six cylinders meant big block muscle Mitsubishi went and proved everyone wrong by creating in what many car nerds now call the world’s smallest mass produced V6 engine EVER... This little gem is called the 6A10 a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated v6 and yes it really is smaller than most family saloon four cylinders from the same era!!

WHY IS THIS A THING?!
So they did it for tax reasons in japan back then car taxes were a thing and keeping engine size down was a big deal so what did they do, they stuck six cylinders into a subcompact without making it instantly hilarious looking and the result was a smooth enough motor that made around 138 horsepower! We know it isn’t going to win drag races but will certainly put a grin on your face if you like the absurdity of a tiny V6 sound!
If you listen closely to one revving up near redline it’ll give you that cultured trumpet howl that v8s can only dream of but don’t ask it to tow your house because at just under 1600cc and roughly the weight of a grown man doing a bench press. It’s more about charm than brute force.

What Do We Think?
While the rest of the automotive world chased bigger engines mitsubishi’s pint sized v6 sits there quietly laughing in the corner of history proving that when it comes to engine building sometimes smaller is just funnier and a heck of a conversation starter not to mention a smile machine as you slowly wait for your revs to climb up to 8000 in first gear!!
Guess what... We love it. BUT, how about you? Let us know in the comment section below we will be watching!
